BREAKING: Kidnapped oil workers, 3 lecturers dead after Boko Haram ambush

Sahara Reporters states that 3 kidnapped lecturers on an oil exploration in the Lake Cha Basin are dead
- Over 30 people have been reported dead in the death toll following the ambush by Boko Haram in Borno state
- Suspected Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped 10 members of a research team from the north-east on Tuesday, July 25
Online newspaper, Sahara Reporters,
has reported that 3 lecturers from the University of Maiduguri and three others on an oil exploration team in the Lake Chad Basin are dead.
Philipconcept Blog's gathered that no less than 12 soldiers in an earlier report were killed while at least four out of 12 staff of the University of Maiduguri equally lost their lives.
The names of the deceased are: Dr Milicus Joseph from Geology Dept, Idris Abubakar Njodi and Dr Daniel Birma of Dept of Soil Science.
Daniel Millitus, a relative of the deceased (Dr. Joseph Millitus), said that the family was still in grief over the loss of one of its “rising stars,” and has started making arrangements for the burial, The Punch reports.
Another relative of a slain lecturer (Dr. Manaja Uba), said the family was still in shock and found it difficult to believe.
She lamented that Yusuf Ibrahim another relative who was also on the exploration team, was still missing.
Philipconcept Blog's recall that Naija news media earlier reported that the victims were abducted near a village called Jibi in Gubio local government area on Tuesday, July 25, while moving alongside some personnel of the Civilian-JTF.
A day after the abduction, the Nigerian army in a press statement on Wednesday, July 27, by its spokesman, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, claimed that all the NNPC staff abducted in the Tuesday’s ambush had been rescued.
However the minister of state for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has said he can't confirm if any of the recently abducted 10 staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have been rescued.
